Grandstand Design Features:
• Total bleacher seating capacity: 332
• Two 4 row I-Beam bleachers constructed back-to-back
• Slip resistant aluminum welded deck walking surface
• Powder coated steel vertical picket guardrail system
• Powder coated aluminum closure at the front of the grandstands
This bleacher project was both highly unusual and highly complex as they were constructed on the top of a garage roof. The university has virtually no unused space for new athletic facilities so the decision was made to install the tennis courts and bleacher seats on the roof of a new parking garage. The challenges were many: design issues, coordinating our bleacher anchoring system with the construction of the new parking structure, and an extremely limited staging area for our materials. The coordination efforts between the university, the architect, and Dant Clayton overcame all the challenges and issues and resulted in a highly successful bleacher installation.
