Dant Clayton Corporation is excited to announce our participation in the design and construction of Yulman Stadium, the new on-campus home of the Tulane University Green Wave football program. The stadium is set to open for the 2014 season, coinciding with the inaugural season for the Green Wave as full members of the new American Athletic Conference.

The design-build project began for Dant Clayton in the fall of 2012, upon being selected by Tulane University and Woodward Design + Build as the primary stadium manufacturer. Instrumental in our selection was our ability and experience with the design-build process, and our product offering of the Hybrid Precast Stadium System.

Our team of designers and engineers worked in tandem with the project design team, including national architectural firm Gould-Evans, local New Orleans firm Lee Ledbetter and Associates, and national structural engineer, Thornton Tomasetti. The Dant Clayton design staff participated with the group in completing the schematic design through the construction document phases. Similarly, our estimating and pre-construction staff provided cost guidance and value engineering services for Woodward throughout the project planning process.

Once completed, the Dant Clayton engineered, fabricated, and erected system will provide seating for more than 15,793 people on the North, West, and South sides of the stadium. The supporting steel structure has been engineered by Dant Clayton, and is in the process of being fabricated and finished at our AISC certified factory in Louisville, Kentucky. Our premium two-step green powder coat finish is being applied to each steel member with our specialized in-house process.

In these locations, the stadium risers will be built using our latest innovation, the Hybrid Precast Stadium System. This unique solution allows for a traditional concrete stadium experience, but at a significantly reduced cost as compared to traditional precast concrete risers. The Hybrid system uses a mixture of steel, aluminum, and concrete materials to create a cost effective, lightweight pre-engineered structure that can be customized for most any type of stadium construction.

Dant Clayton is also providing 1,165 seats on the East side of the stadium, bringing the total seating capacity of our portion of the project to 16,958. In total, we will be providing approximately 600 tons of structural steel and 1,500 tons of precast concrete to construct our portion of the finished stadium under a contract with Woodward Design + Build. Steel fabrication began over 3 months ago, with the first pieces scheduled for erection in early September. Completion is slated for 2014, ahead of the start of the football season.

Dant Clayton, Woodward, and Tulane also teamed together in 2007 on the construction of Turchin Stadium, home of the Green Wave baseball program. We are pleased that we have the opportunity to complete another successful project with such high quality partners.
