The Major League Soccer (MLS) season is just a few days old, but we’re already following team standings like rabid fans. Every pro soccer experience has a unique atmosphere, and every matchup has us on the edge of our seats. Will Sporting Kansas City defend its 2013 title? Will Atlanta be added to the league in 2017? And what about our “home” team, the Columbus Crew? Crew Stadium is three hours away from Dant Clayton headquarters, but they represent our region like superstars.

Obviously soccer—or any sport, for that matter—gets us pumped. We take pride in knowing our trusted bleacher tradition is a part of every game. So you can imagine how excited we were when NCAA Division 1 Kennesaw State Owls (Marietta, Georgia) came to us with their vision. They wanted a new women’s soccer complex and sought a bleacher company who were not only fans of the sport, but fans of fans. That’s sums us up Dant Clayton perfectly. We were all in.

Opened in 2010, the $16.5 million, state-of-the-art Fifth-Third Bank stadium seats 8,300 for soccer, and up to 10,000+ with additional bleachers. It’s the only stadium of its kind in the world constructed specifically for women’s soccer, and was once home to the Atlanta Beat, Atlanta’s professional women’s soccer team. The league has since folded.

With Owl gold bleachers, excellent sightlines, and a “home team” feel, the versatile complex has hosted several NCAA lacrosse competitions. It also welcomed major league lacrosse championships and Ruby Union games. In more recent news, the Owls will begin competing in NCAA Division 1 football in 2015, and the stadium will be their home field. Bleacher expansions will nearly double the stadium’s capacity.

But back to soccer. Since their first game in their new home, the NCAA Owls have soared, earning a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award three times since 2010 (2011, 2012, 2013). Five Owls were named to Atlantic-Sun Conference Teams in 2013, as well.

We’re so proud that Kennesaw State trusted our bleachers to make their fans comfortable and energized. Even though we’re focused on MLS this spring and summer, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Owls in fall 2014. Set your goals high, ladies. Dant Clayton is rooting for you!
