For University of Louisville fans, the most exciting time of the year is usually the NCAA basketball tournament. But this year, the excitement has carried over to the Cardinal boys of summer.

Cardinal baseball fever has taken over our hearts. After 40+ regular season wins, the team earned a berth in the 2014 College World Series (CWS) finals. Saturday night will mark the team’s second CWS appearance in two years and its third in eight years.

The Cardinals earned their most recent trip to Omaha, Nebraska (the home of the CWS) last Saturday night, after defeating the Kennesaw State the NCAA Super Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium in front of more than 6,000 members of #CardNation. The game set a school attendance record and boosted the Cardinals’ 2014 home record to an astonishing 34-7. Over 11,000 fans cheered the team through the NCAA baseball Super Regional, and more than 22,000 attended all of the Cardinal post-season games.

But last weekend’s game was exceptional for Dant Clayton and our bleachers tradition. As it turns out, our company has built bleachers for both NCAA schools. Dant Clayton completed a 2,500-seat project for Jim Patterson stadium in 2005, and our bleacher company designed, facilitated, and implemented Kennesaw State’s soccer complex in 2010. Although we were super pumped to see the KS Owls in post-season play, our local pride took over and we root, root, rooted for the home team.

Jim Patterson Stadium had previously hosted tens of thousands of baseball fans in the four-team NCAA 2014 Regional in May.

What’s next? We’ll have our eyes locked on ESPN2 on Saturday night as the Cards open their CWS experience against the Vanderbilt Commodores at TD Ameritrade Field in Omaha. The first pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.

We’re hoping for lots of runs from our boys, as they have won 55 straight games when crossing the plate five or more times in a game. And they have a 98-game win streak when winning after the 8th inning. Our fingers will be crossed after the 7th inning stretch, all the way to the final out. Go Cards! Louisville and Dant Clayton love you!
